Privacy Policy

Last updated November 3, 2026

This policy explains what Niche Finder collects about you, why, who else handles it and how long we keep it. We collect what we need to run the service, and nothing for advertising.

Who is responsible

Louis Lafosse EI, decides how your data is used and is responsible for it (the "controller" under data protection law). Contact: [email protected].

What we collect

Your account

  • Your email address and your name.
  • Your password, stored only as a hash, so nobody can read it, us included.
  • If you sign in with Google: the name, email address and profile picture of your Google account, and the sign-in tokens Google gives us. No password.

What you do in the app

  • The analyses and tools you run, what you submit to them (such as channel and video links) and their results.
  • Your credits: free credits, purchases, holds and returns.
  • Who your channel is for, if you tell us: country, viewers' ages, languages, video length, how you produce, and any notes. Your analyses work for it, and it goes with them to Anthropic, our AI provider (see below).

Purchases

You pay on Creem's checkout, and Creem collects your payment details and billing address. Creem tells us how many credits you bought, the amount and the order number. We never see your card number.

Technical data

Your IP address and browser type, stored with your sign-in session and in our server logs.

Public YouTube data

Our map is built from publicly available YouTube data about channels and videos, such as titles, view counts and the channels YouTube shows together. It describes channels, not the people who visit this site. If you run a channel and object to it being in the map, write to us.

Data from a YouTube channel you connect has its own section below.

Why we use it

  • To run the service you signed up for: your account, your analyses and your credits. Legal basis: our contract with you.
  • To process purchases and keep accounting records. Legal basis: our contract with you, and the law.
  • To send account emails, such as confirming your address or resetting your password. Legal basis: our contract with you.
  • To keep the service secure and stop abuse, with rate limits and server logs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a safe service.
  • To build the map from public YouTube data. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running Niche Finder.

We don't sell your personal data and we don't use it for advertising. The only emails we send are about your account.

Who we share it with

A few providers help us run Niche Finder. Each one gets only what it needs for its job.

  • Creem (payments) is our merchant of record. It collects your payment details at checkout, charges tax and issues invoices, under its own privacy policy.
  • Anthropic (AI processing) runs the AI models behind our analyses. We send it public YouTube data, the channel links you submit, and who your channel is for. We never send it your password or payment data.
  • Google runs Google sign-in and, if you connect a channel, provides its data through YouTube API Services. Your browser also loads our fonts from Google Fonts and video thumbnails from YouTube, which gives Google your IP address.
  • Resend (email) sends our emails, so it receives your email address and the message.
  • Cloudflare carries all traffic to the site, protects it from attacks and runs the bot check on the sign-up and sign-in forms (Turnstile), so it receives your IP address and the pages you request.
  • MongoDB (our database software) stores the data on our own servers in France.

We may also share data when the law requires it, or with a company that takes over Niche Finder, which would have to keep the promises in this policy.

Transfers outside your country

Some of these providers process data in other countries, including the United States. When data leaves the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the safeguards the law provides, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

YouTube data from a connected channel

Connecting a YouTube channel is optional. If you do, Google asks you to grant Niche Finder two read-only permissions:

  • youtube.readonly, to see your channel and its videos;
  • yt-analytics.readonly, to see your YouTube Analytics reports.

With them we read your channel's name and picture, its videos and their analytics, such as views, click-through rate, retention and traffic sources. We use this data only to show you insights about your own channel. We never sell it, never use it for ads and never show it to other users.

The access tokens are kept by our sign-in system and handed to a sync only while it runs. Synced analytics are stored on our servers until you disconnect the channel or delete your account, and are deleted then.

Niche Finder uses YouTube API Services. The YouTube Terms of Service apply, and Google handles your data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can disconnect a channel in the app, or revoke our access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Niche Finder's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and results: until you delete your account. You can do it at any time in Settings > Delete account, and it takes effect right away.
  • Purchase records: as long as accounting law requires. Once your account is deleted, we keep only the credit records (amounts, dates and order numbers), not your name or email. Creem keeps its own records of the sale as merchant of record.
  • YouTube analytics: until you disconnect the channel or delete your account.
  • Server logs: about 30 days.

Security

Passwords are stored as hashes, never in plain text. Access to your YouTube data is read-only, and the tokens that grant it are used only during a sync. If a breach ever puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the data we hold about you;
  • correct it if it is wrong;
  • delete it, which you can also do yourself by deleting your account;
  • send it to you in a portable format;
  • stop using it for a purpose you object to.

Write to [email protected] from the email address of your account. We answer within one month. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, such as the one in the country where you live.

Children

Niche Finder is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has made an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Cookies

We only use the cookies that keep you signed in: no analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels. The Cookie Policy lists them.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects how we use your data, we email you before it takes effect.
